About Koubei Carved Building

A national 4A site in the millennium-old Chaixu old town of Gaogang, first built in 1739 by wood merchant Yao of the Qianlong era and extended by Republican-era merchant Li Songru. Wood, brick and stone carvings crown the complex — dubbed a masterwork of the "three carvings" — with film crews drawn to its period streets.
